BISMARCK, ND — The University of Mary has announced the selection of its 2015 Homecoming King and Queen and their court.

Homecoming King is Turnar Kist of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He is a senior majoring in history and history education. He’s played football at Mary for four years and is member of Student North Dakota United. He has been on 
the Dean’s Honor Roll for 2014-2016. He plans to teach or attend graduate school to study history. His hobbies include playing video games, reading, football, watching sports, volunteering and watching “The Simpsons.” His parents are Tim Kist and Gwen Kist of Winnipeg.

Homecoming Queen is Maari Beck. She’s a senior athletic training major from Bismarck, is the daughter of Marvin and Kerry Beck of Mandan. She is the social chair of the University of Mary Athletic Training Student Association, and has been on the Academic Honor Roll during 2014-2016. She likes to spend time on the river, go camping, attend sporting events, take spontaneous road trips, get the girls together, and become addicted to Netflix series. She plans to attend graduate school for physical therapy and become a pediatric physical therapist.

Daniel Lang — Daniel Lang of Rapid City, SD, is a senior biology major and Student Government president. He is a member of ECOS, the Harold Schafer Leadership Academy, the Math and Science Association and is a student tutor. On the Honor Roll for 2014-2016, his hobbies include outdoor activities such as winter camping, fly fishing, photography, hiking and backpacking, and reading. He plans to attend dental school and then specialize in the field. His parents are David Lang and Cecilia Lang of Rapid City.

Dominic Mangino — Dominic Mangino of Grand Forks, ND, is a junior majoring in respiratory therapy. He is the treasurer of the University of Mary Knights of Columbus, a Student Government Senator and a member of the university’s Social Dance Club. He is on the Academic Honor Roll and in the university’s Gregorian Scholars Program. After graduation, he intends to go to graduate school and plans to work as an intern for the World Youth Alliance. He is the son of Joan Mangino and Ernie Mangino.

Jacob Markel — Jacob Markel is the son of Paul Markel and Milissa Kelly of Bismarck. The senior philosophy major plans to earn his master’s degree in school counseling and become an elementary school counselor. His activities include the Knights of Columbus, the Knights of Virtue, Collegians for Life and Students Today Leaders Forever. He has been a Residence Assistant and retreat leader. On the Academic Honor Roll in 2013 and 2015, he likes to play the drums, hike, watch and play sports.

Luke Odegard — Luke, a junior from Wilton, ND, is majoring in accounting. He is the treasurer of PACS, a member of Pep Band, takes part in intramurals and works with the Rec Crew. He enjoys softball, golf and hunting and plans to earn his CPA after graduation. He is the son of Matt Odegard and Cori Odegard of Wilton.

His hobbies include playing drums and he plans to attend graduate school and continue to enjoy playing the drums. He plans to attend graduate school and is the son of Denys Schwartz and Doug Schwartz of Bismarck.

Veronica Dvorak — Veronica, a senior from New England, ND, is double majoring in social studies education and social and behavioral science. She is the president of SPURS, a member of Student North Dakota United, Marauders on Politics, Vera Forma, the Emerging Leaders Academy and is the intramural soccer team captain. She has been a student tutor, a peer team leader and FOCUS Bible student. Her honors include the 2016 Presidential Student Leadership Award, SPUR of the
Year Award, 2014-2016, the 2016 Support Staff Scholarship, the Sister Thomas Welder Scholarship, 2013-present, and the Dean’s List, 2013-present. She plans to teach social studies after graduation and enjoys baking desserts, reading and traveling. Her parents are Victor Dvorak and Lynn Dvorak of New England.

Rachel Goettle — Rachel Goettle of Mandan is a junior majoring in vocal performance and business administration and is the daughter of Shane and Brenda Goettle of Mandan. She is president of Vera Forma, a member of the Music Student Organization, the Social Dance Club, Concert Choir, Concert Band, the Jazz Combo, UMary Vocal Jazz and Collegians
for Life. She is a cantor with the University Ministry Chapel Choir, and received the Kenneth and Patricia Porter Award in 2015 and the Sandra Nicholson Award in 2016. Her hobbies include running, playing and coaching soccer, singing at weddings, singing and playing with the band “Taken Up.” She hopes to perform with the Medora Musical, sing jazz, and open her own Catholic coffee shop and bookstore.

Therese Kulas — Therese is a junior vocal performance major from East Grand Forks, MN, and is the daughter of Mary and Ron Kulas of East Grand Forks. She is president of the Music Student Organization, vice president of the Social Dance Club, a member of Concert Choir, Chapel Choir and the Steel Pan Band. She enjoys watching movies, being in musicals, sewing and volunteering at local theaters. She plans to attend graduate school and hopes to work at a children’s theater company.

Genny Say — Genny Say of Napa, CA, is a junior nursing major involved in Student Government, the Marauders Activities Committee, Concert Choir, the Steel Band and is a board office
for the Nursing Students Association and a Residence Assistant and a University Ministry retreat leader. She was named the Residence Life Rookie RA of the Year for 2015-2016 and won the Student Nurses’ Day Award as the most caring/kind/helpful classmate in 2015-2016. The daughter of Geoffrey Say and Christina Say of Napa, her hobbies include traveling to foreign countries to experience new cultures and food. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in bioethics and then become an O.R. missionary nurse in a Third World country.
