ACAPT is comprised of a representative from each college and university in which a PT program is located. The Board of Directors consists of the president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and five directors and is accountable to the members of ACAPT, elected and appointed, and to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Board of Directors.

“I am honored and humbled to be selected for this wonderful opportunity to learn from and work with enthusiastic, passionate, and hard-working leaders whose goals are to achieve the strategic goals set forth by the academic community,” said Dockter, a Jamestown, ND, native, professor and chair of University of Mary’s Department of Physical Therapy. “This is an excellent opportunity for the University of Mary program in PT as I will be directly involved with unique and innovative initiatives to help shape the future of PT education.”

Dockter’s academic career began in 1998 at the University of Mary after working clinically in a variety of PT settings including acute care, outpatient orthopedics, and home healthcare. She went on to complete a master’s degree in education from the University of Mary and a doctorate from UND. While full-time faculty at UMary, she assumed the role of director of Clinical Education, and eventually chair of the PT department.

In 2013, ACAPT was formally approved by the House of Delegates of APTA to serve as a driving force for excellence in education and innovation and as a point of contact for the members of the physical therapy academic community.
