BISMARCK, ND — Will Beachey, PhD, RRT, FAARC, current University of Mary respiratory therapy professor and former director of CHI St. Alexius Health and University of Mary’s Respiratory Therapy Program, was selected from a group of national educators to receive the 2015 American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) Educator of the Year Award. A special selection committee gives this prestigious award to a deserving faculty member nominated by his or her peers and chosen from the AARC Education Section. He received his award recently at the national AARC Meeting in Tampa, Florida.

Dr. Beachey joined CHI St. Alexius Health in 1990. He recently retired as director but remains a professor for Will Beachey for Webthe Respiratory Therapy Program. He wrote the textbook the students currently use for the program, Respiratory Care Anatomy and Physiology: Foundations for Clinical Practice. The first edition was published in 1998 and he is currently working on the fourth edition.

Dr. Beachey received several other prestigious awards throughout his career. In 2008, he was inducted as a Fellow of the American Association for Respiratory Care (FAARC) in recognition of his significant and sustained contributions to the profession of respiratory care. In 2009, Dr. Beachey was the recipient of the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) award because of his dedicated service as a member and secretary of the CoARC.
